USCA Continues its Focus on True Price Discovery

(MAY 6, 2020) – Momentum continues to build for the proposal to require a minimum percentage of cash negotiated cattle to be bought by each U.S. meat processing facility that is large enough to report to USDA’s Agricultural Marketing Service (AMS).

U.S. Cattlemen’s Association (USCA) President Brooke Miller issued the following statement:

“Nearly 4,000 individual producers have signed on in support of the grassroots effort to establish a floor of required minimum cash negotiated cattle  purchases (the 30-14 proposal) to be included as part of the Livestock Mandatory Reporting reauthorization. Inaction is an inadequate response. USCA stands ready to work with any individual or organization willing to come to the table with tangible solutions to expand true price discovery and fix our broken marketplace.”

USCA’s Marketing and Competition Committee will hold a standing weekly call Tuesdays at 7:00am Mountain to discuss ongoing efforts to restore transparency in the cattle marketplace. Join today to get involved.

We will also continue our #FactsOnlyFriday campaign each week at 6:00pm Mountain to bring truth to common industry misconceptions. Join us on Facebook to tune in.
