National Cattle Organizations to Share a Stage in Florida This Week

(OCTOBER 28, 2020) – Join representatives from the United States Cattlemen’s Association (USCA) and other national cattle organizations for two producer meetings held in Florida this week.

USCA’s Chuck Kiker from Beaumont, Texas will speak on behalf of the organization, and will provide an update on what has been an incredibly busy year for our group. From securing billions of dollars in coronavirus relief to working with Members of Congress on legislation to improve true price discovery in the cattle marketplace, Mr. Kiker will walk through USCA’s successes and our members’ role in advancing the interests of the U.S. cattle producer in Washington, DC.

The first meeting is scheduled to begin at 6:00 pm EDT, Wednesday, Oct. 28, at the Okeechobee Livestock Market in Okeechobee, Fla. and another meeting is scheduled to start at 6:00 pm EDT, Thursday, Oct. 29, at the W.H. Stuart Center in Bartow, Fla.

USCA’s Top Five of 2020

1. Worked with Congress and USDA to develop a coronavirus aid program for livestock producers…cattle producers receive over $5 billion in stimulus funding.

2. Worked with Congress to introduce several bills related to increasing transparency and true price discovery in the cattle marketplace. Led a group sign-on letter of over ten national and state groups requesting a hearing on Livestock Mandatory Reporting.

3. Established the Independent Beef Processors Task Force to identify solutions to increase the probability of regional meatpackers. Demanded that only beef that was born, raised, and harvested in the U.S. be included in USDA’s Farmers to Families Food Box Program.

4. Submitted a petition for rulemaking on “Product of the U.S.A.” Loophole …USDA admits that a loophole exists and that they begin rulemaking to correct the issue.

5. Not to mention, we unveiled a new website, launched an online apparel store, hosted a virtual Washington, DC “Fly-In”, began our #FactsOnlyFriday series, and held the first-ever Winter Thaw event in Billings, Montana this February with special guests USDA Under Secretary Greg Ibach, CME Group’s Tim Andriesen, and the ever-notorious Corbitt Wall (pre-COVID, of course).
