Member Alert: Update on the USDA COVID-19 Aid Package

(April 18, 2020) – As of this morning, USDA has not hosted any stakeholder briefings on what was released late last night. There are many questions surrounding USDA’s announcement and how it applies to producers.  USCA is working on tracking down answers these answers and will keep its members up to date as we learn more. We expect more briefings and updates from USDA through the weekend.

The current USDA plan is available HERE.  Cattle producers will receive a total of $5.1 billion of the $9.6 billion set aside for the livestock producers, specialty crop growers, and local foods systems.

Again, we are gathering more details and USCA will continue to work around the clock to get this right. Unless different details are revealed from USDA, this livestock payment plan needs major improvements.

Bottom line – don’t get discouraged and don’t take this to the bank quite yet. We have some work to do – let us get through that and then see where things stand.

Onward,
Jess
